Need help with pool chemicals!?
I bought a 15′ by 4′ pool and an Aqua Chem starter kit. The kit came with 1″ stabilizer tabs. It says that the tabs should be used with an automatic feeder. Would it mess the pump up if I just used it in the pump? Where can I get one of these feeders if I have to have one?
With a 15 ft round you could get away with using what’s called a “floatie” unless you plan on having the neighborhood in your pool at one time, all the time. You can purchase one at your local pool shop. All they are is a floating dispenser you load up with your tabs and set the flow rate. It floats around the pool dissolving the tabs at the rate you set. If the entire block is going to be in your pool most of the time ( you’re pretty popular right now is my guess!!!) you may want to invest in an off line or in line chlorine feeder but that would only be worth it if you are going to be party central for the summer. They are pricier than the floaties and require some plumbing modification.
It’s never a good idea just to toss tabs in a skimmer or pump basket for long. The high concentration of chlorine in one area can break down plastic pretty quickly even if it’s rated for it. NEVER toss those tabs in the pool unless you like white spots and or streaks on your liner.
