Algae at the bottom of my above ground pool! Please help!?

I have an Intex 15×48 above ground pool. Today, I stepped outside and I saw algae starting to grow massively at the bottom and the water is getting a bit cloudy. Do pool professionals work on above ground pools like mine too or do they only work on the actual underground pools because I wanted to call pool maintenance to check it out but someone told me they’d just laugh if they came and saw that it is an above ground pool. What should I do?

Algae is caused by out of balance water, warm temperatures, sunlight and presence of nitrates and/or carbon dioxide.

Lack of proper circulation, filtration and sanitation are primary causes of the algae.

Is the algae green, yellow or black?

Green algae is usually the most common kind, and starts out as hazy water from a lack of proper filtration and/or sanitation. You’ll see it floating in the water, but also on the walls. It reduces water clarity. Sometimes you’ll see “spots” on surfaces, particularly rough areas, or places with low circulation. When it’s bad, it coats the entire pool in coated in green slime.

Take a look here to find out more and how to get rid of it.

I take care of my in ground pool, but you can’t always use the same chemicals on an above ground pool.

Good luck.
