Winter Pool Covers Cost

winter pool covers cost
How do you winterize a pool in florida?

This is my first home with a pool. I think it might be wiser and more cost effective to close it for the winter. Rather than heating and filtering it all year knowing i probably wont go in again until the spring. Any one have a ny suggestions that lives in florida on what the best avenue to take. I do not have a cover either, so thats another cost i will have to incur. Just looking for the best long term money savings. Can i close it myself or should i hire a pool company and how much do they charge?
Thanks in advance for all the answers.

I’ve lived in FL for more than 30 years and owned 4 homes with pools. I have to ask WHERE are you? I’ve NEVER “winterized” in a strict sense. Certainly this isn’t a state that gets temps low enough to throw tires in a pool or drain one for the winter?

I’m also confused about WHY heating a pool in FL is neccesary at all? No offense.

Is this an in ground pool? I assume above or in ground it isn’t screened.

My pools ran/cycled; every day, 365 a year. I had a pool service to do routine things; such as vacuuming and chemical balance maintenance; but again; NEVER…Closed a pool for Winter. Certainly in FL; “WINTER” can get cold; but no one I know ever Moved to FL expecting to bring their Ice Skates with them from Minnesota.

I’ll be happy to offer more; and certainly wish you pool success; but in my opinion you’re over thinking the issues.
