Swimming Pool Chemicals Cyanuric

Our pool water is green, has floaty things and we can’t see the bottom!?

We have a 27′ round above ground pool that hold 16,500 gal. of water with an aqau cell salt generator. We took a water sample into our local pool co. and they told us our free chlorine was low(0ppm), the total alkalinity was high(235ppm), cyanuric acid was ok(30ppm)salt low(2000ppm). They sent us home with chemicals and directions to add ph minus -6 lbs, 2lbs granular chlorine, 1 bottle of algecide, and 42 lbs of generic salt. We added the chemicals as directed – called them back and was directed to repeat the process with a lesser dose. There is still no change in our water clarity. Do we drain the pool and start over? This is our 2nd summer with a pool, and we never had nice clear swimming water last summer. It seems we get the run-a-round from our local pool co. and keep adding lots of chemicals that aren’t working. What direction should we take from here to get our pool sparkling and inviting?

Please email me the results of your most recent water analysis. Specifically the readings you listed above plus the combined or total chlorine readings, calcium hardness, and pH levels.

I’m sorry to say but all pool stores make money on selling chemicals. I’m not saying they are intentionally giving you things you don’t need but I’ve seen people purchase hundreds in chemicals that are doing nothing for their pools.
