Should I still pay everytime I use the pool even though I pay with my monthly dues for its maintenance?
When I bought a new house, the developer says that the amenities include a swimming pool. Right now, the developer wants the homeowners association (which is newly established) to charge the maintenance of the pool to our monthly dues. There’s no problem with that but I want to know if it is still right for the developer to dictate to the HOA to charge the homeowners an additional fee for using the pool?
Read your homeowners covenent – it will tell you what the association can do or not do – also read your home contract – it should include that the pool is included, although the maintenance may not be inclusive.
You will have a problem when the pool needs major maintenance and people who don’t use the pool don’t want to pay – hopefully that won’t be for a few years, but that’s the downside of community pools with special funding.
