Swimming pool pump replacement advice please??

We have an underground pool, 20 'x 40' 8 'deep at the deep end … about 35K Gallons. The pump has become more and ineffective and should be replaced. When I spoke with a local dealer, he was with a pool of this size we have a 1.5 have PS pump. Later I read somewhere that you replace the pump with one of the horses too … otherwise you might end up with something too powerful for your filter. (FYI, we have a sand filter with 300 pounds of sand.) When I look at the old pump considered, it turns out, it was only 1 hp motor. So what would be the CV? It was my old pump is not strong enough to work everywhere? (Since we bought the house, it always seemed like the pool was higher maintenance costs than I expected.) Or can I by another 1 hp and assume that this should be enough to do the job? I would damage the filter. Thank you!

Go with the 1.5 PS. Believe me, I was in the pool my entire life and what you say and the size of your pool 1 HP is not enough .. Therefore, you should take both had problems at the pool .. be very happy with the upgrade and you can not, I repeat damage, not the filter with the HP pump can more …
