Algae in my spa, anyone that can help?

We have a problem with our spa continuously being over-run by algae. We have a pool that is connected to the spa, and the water from the spa runs into the pool while the pump is running but we have almost no trouble with algae in the pool. We try to scrub it off but it just keeps coming back. We’ve had a “pool guy” look at it but he just said run the pump more ofter. We run it six hours a day and are still having this problem! Algae treatments (the chemicals we buy from pool supply stores and wal-mart) seem to work but it only lasts about three days, and it starts going again. The water is perfectly clear, its just growing on the sides and bottom. Any suggestions for getting rid of this? Or is this something we have to just keep dealing with until we die? ha ha

You should try to put a couple of tablespoons of CuSO4 into the water (Copper 2 sulphate). It works to get rid of algae and we tested it this year (we also have this problem in our pool) and it worked great! Be careful though not to use too much as it can stain your liner.
